Packt has launched the third annual Open Source CMS Award today, giving fans of Drupal an opportunity to help them defend their title, which they won last year, collecting a first prize of $5,000.

The first stage of the Award is a call for nominations, which enables fans to nominate their favourite Open Source CMS. The five Content Management System's that receive the most nominations in each category will go through to the final stage of voting, which starts at the beginning of September, so your nomination counts!

To ensure that Drupal makes it through to the final voting stage, submit your nomination for Drupal here: www.PacktPub.com/article/nominate-overall-open-source-cms-winner/system/Drupal

A new category this year is the Open Source CMS MVP Award, which will recognise the contributions to projects made by individuals that often go unnoticed. For the large majority of Open Source projects, it is the tireless work from enthusiastic individuals that enable its growth and adoption, and these are the people that Packt feels is necessary to identify. If you feel there is somebody at Drupal who has gone that extra mile to push the project forward or who's contribution has enabled the Project to develop, then this is your opportunity to ensure they get the necessary recognition.

Submit your choice for an Open Source CMS MVP here: www.PacktPub.com/article/nominate-open-source-cms-mvp

Just submitted my vote. I think it was the Garland theme that brought it home for us last year. Although Drupal 6 shipped with the same theme as the default with a slight improvement, I hope the judges focus on the other aspects Drupal 6 has to offer.

I have a feeling internationalisation in D6 will be the one to deliver gold this year.

Nominated Drupal and everyone's favorite D6 branch maintainer as MVP. Any other votes for Gábor? : )

It's really hard to choose only one person who drives the Drupal project forward. :)

My thoughts exactly. : P

The wording says "Therefore, you are invited to submit nominations for individuals who have had a measurable effect on the success or development of an Open Source CMS throughout the course of the Award." (emphasis mine) I'll take that to mean I should be going back there tomorrow to nominate a couple other folks. : )

The nominations run to the 25th of August, so you can still place yours!

I nominated Drupal for overall + PHP. And I nominated Gábor. Might possibly nominate more.
