It would be great if you factored out your index page (with all the settings) to integrate as some kind of view in the views module. Your index page is very cool and I would like to use it with views of for example authors on the site.

This is good idea but:
I don't use Views and don't know this in programmer level. Maybe some can add support for views, but i cannot. Sorry.
I leave this feature request open for others, maybe someone?

I agree - I think creating this page as a views plugin is most likely the preferable way forward. I don't think it is too hard, but I don't know how to do it either as yet.

Just adding my 2 cents.

I disagree and mark this by design.

The index looks nice because it isn't a view.

The views do not support the letter(s) before each terms. So I do not see the point.

And if you want a view of all the terms as shown by the index, create a view and do that directly from the taxonomy. You do not need the taxonomy_vtn for that purpose.
