I am starting a custom theme from scratch.
I made a .info file and am using the default theme for page.tpl.php found here: http://api.drupal.org/api/file/modules/system/page.tpl.php/6/source as a template. But my blocks are not displaying for some reason I can switch to the garland theme and they display but not with this custom theme. I must have over looked something in the theme guide but I'm not sure what.

I wasn't adding the blocks to my custom theme only to the default garland theme.
