Made a clean installation of drupal 5.8 and advanced profile 5.x-1.0-alpha5
with *all* other needed modules and dependencies, set all permissions.

Unable to see buddies in the buddylist pane though my buddies ( from buddy module ) show buddies which means buddies have been added.

Please, some help is badly needed.

ok, I forgot and I remembered.
The 'problem' was same as with drupal 5.7 theme.
advanced_profile_view_buddylist_of_uid.tpl.php should be copied to the individual theme folder being used in drupal 5.8. This solves the problem
