How do you customize the user profile page in drupal 6?
Creating a user_profile.tpl.php does not work for me. Is there something more to it? Maybe some other file to edit?

I found this page http://drupal.org/node/252899 saying you must clear the theme registry, but how do you do that?

...and I've tried naming the file user-profile.tpl.php as well.

Solved.
You need to turn on the Profile module (of course) to make user_profile.tpl.php work.
