I am switching to a new hosting company and they don't have PHP 5.2 on their webservers. They only have 4.4.7 installed. Is there any version ofthe ImageAPI that works with that server of PHP, or anything similar?

dopry commentedAre you dense? What part of Requires PHP5 don't you understand? No it will not work with php4.4.7. You picked a bad hosting company. PHP4 is officially end of life in less than a month. You need to rethink you hosting choices. You are using an inappropriate hosting solution if you wish to use this module.

tam commentedYour stance has encouraged me to approach my web hosting company to see if they have plans to provide PHP5.
But my concern is not a supposed outdated web hosting solution that you are campaigning against. I am in a double-bind. I would like to try out the imagecache and imagefield combination - but I use private files in a PHP4 environment. imagecache 1 doesn't need imageapi but to solve private files compatibility issues I need to use imagecache 2 - which does require imageapi - where you refuse to support PHP4 - so the imagecache-imagefield combination is just not accessible to Drupal users using PHP4 AND private files.
There's nothing dense about wishing it were otherwise.

tam commentedAnswer from my hosting company: PHP5 is already installed - so I am moving over to it. I hope there will be no issues arising.
