Treats secondary links as primary links

I installed this module, and followed the instructions to the letter (changed my theme, etc..), and no matter what I do, not only can I not get this to work correctly, but it's treating all my secondary links as primaries. For example, I'm just trying to set up one menu which looks like this:

About
-- Staff

Where Staff is a child of About. When I do that, and then reload my web site to see my new menus, on the primary links menu I see:

About Staff

on the same level. Uninstalling this module makes the problem go away.
