I have the theme four seasons and I want to add a search box. I found a check box in admin->themes but it won't let me mark the box. Why is that? Do i need to do anything else before adding a search box to my site?

If the checkbox is disabled, it means that theme does not provide a search form as part of the theme layout.

However, you can still add a search box as a block, go to "Admin > Site building > Blocks" and enable the search form block.

Thanks, I did that, but a search box or form is still not showing up anywhere on the site. Do you know why this could be?

Sometimes it's a matter of setting user permissions? Did you try turning the permissions on for the search?

Make sure the Search module is enabled in the first place.
