looking for recommendation on module(s) for geolocation functionality

I'm working on a classifieds site and I'd like my nodes to include locative information, which could then be used for proximity searches. A link to Google Maps would also be nice. However, looking at the modules under the "location" category is a bit daunting as there are 43 of them.

I've tried messing around with the location module but so far I have two complaints with it:
- They say that it's not production ready
- The state/province selector doesn't update based on the country that's selected, which makes the options in the selector very large and cumbersome to navigate.

Does anyone know of any module(s) that they would recommend for my needs?
