Jeeze, I thought this module was kind of useless - as the use I had intended for it ended up not being sensible... Glad to see somebody has found use of it though :-)

Could we put in a request to the overall Drupal system, that moving from Drupal X to X+1 can change ANYTHING anybody likes - so long as they provide a script that automates the change, so that modules can be quickly migrated?

Conclusion - if it's simple, I'll help do it - otherwise, I'm afraid its not sooo likely... :-(
