Hi,
A fairly large website dedicated to cult sci fi (http://www.sadgeezer.com) has been ported to Drupal from PostNuke. The data converted and modules installed successfully (I think). The only trouble is, I can't get the site to do what I want it to:
Issues:
1. Search doesn't seem to be able to prioritise listings (eg. Reviews and gallery pictures should have a higher priority than forum posts).
2. Theme, thought very nice, needs some CSS tweaking and possibly work on creating CSS files. In particular, simple things like the display of forum posts in a more interesting way using font size and indentation, listings of News items to make the headlines stand out. There is a huge amount of content that is simply not accessible (or hard to get to) and unfortunately, such content is the main reason for visitors.
3. Tiny MCE integration. This almost works perfectly, but sometimes TinyMCE will kick in and sometimes it wont.
4. Site Map. Probably the most important development work. The users should be able to access all content within two or (at the very most three clicks). this should be done either via a site map or through an powerful Search facility.
5. Possible development of a new module/block to display the most recent additions to the site (excluding blog posts), a tweak to the existing 'latest' feature of Drupal?
6. Someone to talk to about what modules to install for greater functionality or improved usability.
Site objectives:
The site is primarily a forum for like minded sci fi fans to talk about theirs favourite TV show/Film/Book. the average demographic is more mature with 50/50 female male. They need to see clean, easy to access posts on the topics that interest them.
The site will ustilise the features of Google Video and YouTube etc. to provide clips of shows people might be interested in and the site also has it's own video podcast (SadCAST) that was unfortunately stopped as the site was transferred (not enough time to do both).
The site has suffered since the move and the number of regular users has dropped significantly, partly because Google cannot find most of the important pages that would attract visitors and partly because the site doesn't look right (theme is ok, just not clean and efficient).
Funding
The site is not a commercial site, but it's been going for over 10 years and I am more than prepared to invest in it's continued improvement (it's just that I thought I could port it over myself - without help :)
Contact
Please feel free to take a look, if you think you can help, please respond to this post with your contact details. Despite the drop in users recently, the site is still moderately high profile and well known as being one of the larger independent sci fi sites on the net.
