In version 4.5.0, the image module had the functionality to upload a whole directory at a time. For those using drupal to display albums of photos instead of a JAlbum or Gallery type setup, the rewrite for the 4.6.0 version of the image module has made it ultimately useless. That is, unless the "fast upload" as it was previously called is put back into the module.

this feature has been broken out as "image import" module - http://drupal.org/project/image_import . and was intentional.

Is that module still being developed? It appears it hasn't been released, and I'm sure I'm not the only user who is staying away from 4.6 until it is...

t is maintained. And if you would spend some time with it, and contribute back, image_import will be 'maintained' by you too.
