search autocomplete

Is there an existing search autocomplete module (a la youtube or live search), or instructions on how to use the forms API, so I can do an ajax (autocomplete) search by node type?
My searches have come up empty, and more often stuff dating back a few years, any tips or existing references would be great, thanks.
