How to start with the header_image.module

I'm having troubles with the header_image.module and am not sure if this is the module that will fit the needs of the website I'm working on.
But I can't really figure out how to get started with it, here's what I've done so far:

- installed and enabled the headerimage module
- set access control so anyone can view header image
- in site configuration / header image I added a Header Image block called Header_image
- in template.php I added a region called header_image
- in Content management / Content types I added a CCK field of the Image type called header_image
- in Content management / Content I editted a node and uploaded an image

Now the image shows up inside the $content? I guess I'm doing something very wrong or using this module for something it was not intended for?!

I've got another question tho! I've looked at link3.nl for the example and it works there more or less the way I want to use it. Yet not all my pages are a full page, some are mode up of a teaser lsit or another view. Can I add a specified header_image to these as well??
