Hi,
My end-users seem to like Private messages very much, so Thank You.
But from tracking, I can see that the only way that they send private messages is by replying to each other. And in effect, they don't send new messages to new people, and keep asking me how to send private messages. I get the feeling that going to a person's profile page, finding the bold "Send private message" with a bright envelope icon at the bottom of the profile page, is too complicated for them.
And I keep receiving repeated requests/complaints that sending Private Messages is difficult and not very user friendly. For example, here is one of the recent such requests:
"Secondly, to send a message, such as this one, I open up my inbox, find a message, open it, and then send a reply.
Would it not be possible to right click on a members photo and select 'send mail' in order to open up a new message?"
Of course, I replied that right-clicking to send a message, would be impossible, but his concern is legitimate: sendng private messages is not as straight-forward as on other community sites.
This is why I would propose few small improvements for PrivateMsg 3.0 module:
1) to insert a small "Send Message" link snippet in the profile listings located at example.com/profile (see http://drupal.org/profile for example) or any such derivative listings http://drupal.org/profile/country/United+Kingdom (I guess people are used to the Facebook environment and expect it as a standard for all other community websites)
2) to have an easy to insert "Send Message" link in Buddylist listings.
3) to place "Send private message" link higher up on persons profile page by default (above the Buddylist output)
4) to have an optional tiny Envelope icon underneath each user Avatar, every time that avatar appears.
5) to have some kind of Private Messages output for Views
Is any of these possible???
Thank you once again!
It would be a major-major improvement in terms of user-friendliness.

berdirI'm closing old issues since Privatemsg for Drupal 5 is not maintained anymore. I suggest you switch to Drupal 6 if possible, many of the reported issues are probably already resolved there and if not, you're welcome to open a new issue.
