So I'm on a server running PHP 4.4.8 and I found this post on the CAPTCHA group saying that 4 wasn't supported and the linked patch is for Drupal 5, not 6.

What's happening is that unless I use the built in font any generated images are broken/missing. I'd just use the built in font but the letters are really small and hard to read and I'm getting complaints.

I installed the development snapshot for Drupal 6, and I didn't have any problems.
I would think the problem has been fixed, and the patch ported to other branches.

I don't have root access so I haven't been able to verify, but I'm fairly certain that it's a lack of FreeType support on the server.
