Search won't work

I've tried reindexing, I've tried changing the minimum characters to a higher number and back, I've run cron. My site will not index anything and every term you search for has no results. All other setups like this I've used you don't have to do anything for search to work, it just does. Does anyone know how to make Drupal search work?
