add content to a modules main node page

For easy instance. The poll module. the default link for the node is /poll.
Now, when you bring up that page, the content in that page shows nothing exept the polls that have been created.
the only way to CREATE a poll is to go through the menus in the navigation. goto Create Content, then 'Add Poll'.
I'm looking for a way to add a link or a button to the actual POLL PAGE (/poll) that will link to /node/add/poll

basically a way to customize the modules main page.
