Adding trigger functionality

I tried out your module and it works great. I would like to know if it would be possible to add hooks to it that can accept a trigger if a content type is created. I want to be able to have some more advanced polls using cck but only let a given user create once. I'm not sure if that would require explicitly overriding the permissions or adding a set of permissions that states user CANNOT create node_type. I would be willing to help work on this feature, though i have limited php experience.
