I'm not sure, but just to clarify... do you mean you want to use the G2 module to manage user logins so that you don't have to relogin and all that, but you don't want to run Gallery as an embedded gallery? Is that why you want the G2 module even though Gallery is running as standalone?

I was hoping if I clarified, someone would jump in. Don't know how to do it myself and don't currently run the G2 module (I've only tested it a bit).
I should not have wasted your time though. Instead, I should have pointed out that there is both a G2-drupal integration forum and a G2 Drupal Group. Those would be better places to ask this question I think.
