The spam module has been completely rewritten. This has resulted in changes in the spam API. The attached patch updates the trackback module to work with the new API. It is a large patch, but much of what it does is to remove code that is no longer necessary. I tested it locally, and everything seems to work properly. Let me know if you run into any problems.

Whether or not you want to merge this is up to you. The new spam module is greatly improved over the old one, but due to being released under a modified BSD license, it's not hosted on Drupal.org. The attached patch is now also distributed with the new spam module.

who maintains trackbacks? This patch is very hard needed, yet the maintainer gives no answer. Can jeremy not commit it himself? anyone?

APPLIED TO HEAD, DRUPAL-4-6.

I took follow-up #1 as a patch. Tried it out a little and it seems to work with and without the spam module. Thanks for the rewrite. I previously had a feeling that there was a lot of redundant code, doing similar tasks for cases having spam module installed and not having the spam module installed.
