add new node from inside of it's pearent

hello,... I need to add a reference to a node from existing one. The problem is that referenced node doesn't exist yet.
I found few modules which could do this: addnode, autonode, add_n_reference, but all of them are not for D6.
I liked the idea behind autonode, what should I do to make it work with D6?
