My site's initial load is way too long in IE. Can a few people please confirm this by hitting my url in IE?

Using Internet Explorer 7 I don't see any content for 30 seconds or more. With Firefox I can begin reading content fairly quickly.

Firefox loads as quickly as you would expect. IE loaded for a long time, then acted as though it were done loading, displaying a blank page. A few seconds later, the whole page appeared at once.

I'm getting the same results and I can't figure it out. I have no idea why the blank white page appears for so long and then all of a sudden the entire page just appears. It's almost as if the progressive downloading has been turned off or something is wrong and preventing it from happening.

Are there any IE no-no's or IE speed improvements anyone can recommend?

it loading very long for the first time about 30 sec. next loadings are about 10sec
i report some flash unhadeled exceptions, mabye try to get rid off all flash content and then u see if it loading faster,
sometimes flash-videos dont loads.

And yes, some of the delay is the flash loading. Even on pages with no flash, the first time the site is accessed, its still can be 30 seconds. If you delete your temporary Internet files and try www.fillmoregazette.com/community It has no flash.

Thank You again,

I agree those are large files; but I don't think they should cause 20-30 seconds of blank white screen in IE. FF progressively loads the page starting in just 4-5 seconds. There must be something delaying or confusing the page from being displayed until ALL page elements are loaded. Any IE experts out there?

Thanks very much for all the help.

I hope I discover the truth about IE soon. I don't have much hair left.

Any IE/Speed experts have any ideas?

I'm currently trying to fix all XHTML 1.0 Strict validation errors to see if that helps any.

Thanks again for any help!

Try running this webpage analyzer on your site.

Thanks again everyone for hitting my site and reporting the findings. I found the Google Analytics Module was taking approximately 12 seconds of blank white screen (using my CPU/connection speed anyway) in IE ONLY. It has no ill effects in FF.

If anyone would like to confirm this for me, please delete your temporary Internet files and hit www.fillmoregazette.com/frontpage

Thanks again!

Thank you to everyone for taking a look at my site.

I haven't finished fixing the problem yet, but I did identify why, on Internet Explorer only, my pages were taking so long to load. I broke a major web design rule. For those of you who don't know, Internet Explorer does not display the contents of <table>'s until the entire contents of the <table> has loaded. Drupal 5's Bluemarine theme (that I used as the basis for my site) uses tables. I made the problem worse by "wraping" my entire layout within a <table>! Very dumb, Use <div>'s in place of tables.
