Description

Hey,

Apart from the huge amount of text currently the interface, we might reconsider a few terms that appeals more to our audience. Boombatower in his presentation used a few words to explain terminology we used, in this case (and most) it can be interpreted as the terminology being a bit off. I haven't found that many yet, as I haven't been able to re listen the talk but I will keep this issue going as we are going over the interface.

Particpant > User

Participant refers to a person (user) who is "participating" in the study. A user is generic and can apply to anything.

I agree, that technically the term participant is way more correct - that's why we introduced it in the first place. . I am just wondering if the word user, wouldn't make way more sense to a programmer. Looking at where we use the word participant, We can easily just say, user most of the time - I wouldn't know what makes more sense to a programmer but I just noticed it in your talk and it seemed like something that we could approach with more grace.

Sure, I was just clarifying how I used them.

I think 'participant' is clearer because 'user' is ambiguous. the UTE is a user of the UTS, while the UTE may be a user of Drupal, Jimmy is a user of Drupal and PHP. However none of those examples roles are 'participants'.

Oke,well its just that the following sentence :

Participants will then be able to participate in the study and data will be collected and related to their session.

To me soundes better beign :

Users will then be able to participate in the study and data will be collected and related to their session.

And :

Once the maximum number of participants/users? has been reached the study will automatically be closed and no further sessions will be allowed to open. You can manual close the study at any time by changing the status to closed.

Where replacing it with user to me sounded better. Particpant technically sounds better, especially if you place it in the context of a study. But doesnt that make it sound so formal and far from the developers way of thinking? The word user is certainly ambiguous, but can't people relate to ta user particpating in a study then a particpant particpating in the study?

Disclamer : I am just wondering, not making any statements :)

Is there anything remaining from this that needs to be implemented?
