Generating a random link list?

Issue Summary

I'm trying to use this to generate a random link list. So far, I've tried using the search feature to pull in discovered links, but I guess there aren't enough compatible nodes since nothing is showing up. So what I'd like to do is just point to 5 random nodes of the same node type in a random order. I know I can do something similar with Views, but that generates a new random list every time the page is loaded. I'd like a static list that is generated when the node is created.
