Adding a Search box to custom Field

Hi,

I would like to add a searchbox to a custom field in my head. When I add the search block to the custom field it creates a node for search in the custom field with my node header. I would like to just have a simple search textbox and a search button in the header without a node. Could someone help me out with this?
