Issue Summary

Occasionally Node Link refuses to validate a link even though the link is valid and opens OK in another browser tab. Not had time to investigate this so I cannot provide anymore information.

I think the problem is with "trailing slash". In the URL field add your website name without a "trailing slash" in the end i.e., don't use http://www.domain.com/, instead use --> http://www.domain.com since it doesn't get validated by some of the sites. Please check and confirm if it works.

Tried removing the trailing slash but the problem remains. Noticed that some of the links failing to validate redirect to specific internal pages so I pasted in the URL after redirection and that worked. I then tried adding the original URL with a trailing slash and that now works. Hmmm...

himagarwal I think your suggestion re 'trailing slash' is probably correct. I will remove it from future links and see if I have any more problems.

"trailing slash" should be removed from your website link under "site details" settings, not when you add an external website(s) from "node link" type.

And it will be better if you set type as described here http://drupal.org/node/288001#comment-941881

What this will do is that, you can keep website main domain name in URL which will be added to directory and doesn't require validation. And in URL reciprocal link you can add either the inner pages or the main home page which requires validation.

Interestingly my site details setting is http://example.com/cms with no trailing slash. I will try changing this setting to http://example.com since this is being redirected to http://example.com/cms

I have taken your advice re Type settings.

Will test this later to see if problem is fixed.

I added one of my website link at http://www.germany-travel-guide.info/en/directory/Web-Directories/Direct... which got instant approved but the page now shows MySQL error. Before adding the url it was not showing such kind a error. Though my website description "free offerz" is showing but an external link to my website is not showing up. The website hasn't fixed the earlier bug.

I wanted to add one of my website to their directory to test whether it will add my website link as an external link or will direct it to a node page containing my website link ??
