The 6.x-1.x-dev package isn't yet fully functional, and simple viewer hasn't been ported yet. The packaging script has tagged the module as being ready for Drupal 6 when actually it isn't! The error occurs because of the change in the Drupal 6 menu hook. At the moment I'm focussing on getting the main elements ported, and simple viewer will follow later.

Simple viewer should now be working in the latest 6.x-1.x-dev package. I've not used simple viewer much before, but I tested locally and it seems to be working if you want to give it a go!
