gcg breaks contemplate

Having added location and a map (gcg node) to my node I wanted to make a custom template for the content.
Accessing a template for my view now results in wiping the page blank (as soon as the variable parser reaches the google variables, propably) and the browser informs me, that he's waiting for some data from maps.google. He gets it, but nothing changes- the page is blank, the scrollers in ff3 do not respond, either.

I might note that whenever I input a location in a node i need to push submit twice, as the first one seems to wake him up.
