I can not uncheck the requied field on one of my content types.

every time I uncheck it and review the content type settings it shows up there again. It ther any other place on the code were I can achieve this?

This code was developed by a vendor so I have no idea how they set it up, I am fairly good with drupal but this one is beyond me.
