Even though this page says:

It has been updated to allow freetagging categories as well.

The module says:

Freetagging categories are also not supported.

And indeed, I can't seem to set a limit for freetag categories. Am I missing something?

working fine on 5.x.1.2 Just need to select multiple and freetaging

Hmm I get this for every type, version 1.2

Maximum number of terms for story content-type
None of the vocabularies defined for this content-type are valid.

And it has a freetag, multiple option. They all look like this.
