I'm not sure how these bounties work, but I'm putting $200 on the table for someone who can implement an option to Hide Voted Scoops from all the pages except the user sections that displays the user's created scoops and voted scoops. The purpose of this modification is to allow users the ability to find new scoops without needing to sift through scoops they have already seen.

Payment will be sent through PayPal. My website will be released on August 11, 2008. It would be preferred if a quick hack could be given before then, because I really want this feature in my site at the release. As added incentive, I will add another $100 to bounty if you can get me some instructions on how to implement this modification to my site before the release.

$300 could be yours!

I'm a newbie yet, so I am still looking and learning to see how Drupal, Drigg and its community work, in order to create a website based on Drigg sometime in the not so far future.

Anyway, to the point. I really think this is a great idea, so it seemed weird to me that even with a "bounty", there are no replies to the request.

Finally, philbar, I am sure that merc will be very happy if you tell him how you finally managed to achieve the trick you mention.

Cheers,
David

This bounty is in the process. We are just waiting for the port to Drupal 6 to be completed. I want to make sure the feature is compatible, because I plan to upgrade as soon as the modules are stable for D6.

Hi,

I can tell you now that the feature is compatible, since it only affects Drigg.
The best route for this would be to do it for Drupal 6. The feature will then simply be available for Drupal 6. However, waiting for Drupal 6 to be completed will mean twice as much work on our side to apply it -- to the two branches -- and to test it.

Bye,

Merc.

Title: $300 Bounty - Hide Voted Scoops (Option) » Hide Voted Scoops (Option)

I believe Cedric will be working of this task.

Hi,

I had no word from Cedric about this. Plus, it's too much of a fringe feature to be included in Drigg -- unless somebody coded, and coded it well.

Is the bounty still up?

Merc.

The bounty is still available. As listed in the original post, it is $200. Cedric agreed to do it, but has since then changed his mind.

I do think this could be a useful feature for sites that are more concerned about delivering new content to their users. I don't see a reason why users would want to continue to see the scoops they have voted for on the resulting views unless they were specifically looking for those scoops. In that case, they could simply view the results for their voted scoops and probably find the scoop quicker since they don't have to scan through new content.

Just my thoughts.

Hi Phil,

I don't think that's what people expect from a digg-like site. That's why I am very reluctant at doing this for a small bounty. I just don't think it will benefit anybody else.

Plus, I think it's a royal bugger to code.

I am happy to attempt this for $300, once the D6 port is finished. Please let me know.
By "attempt", I mean that if it becomes a coding nightmare, and I notice that it really messes up with Drigg's main UI query, I will have to give up. (But, at least, at that point you will know that it's not really worthwhile asking anybody else)..

Please let me know,

Merc,
