Best way to create a niche blog directory?

I would like to create a simple niche blog directory and would like some suggestions on modules. The functionality I would like is:
1. Blog Submission
2. Automatic creation of screenshot / thumbnail of Blog
3. Pre-determined categories
4. Taxonomy display to find blogs
How difficult is this to accomplish with Drupal and what modules would help accomplish this?

3. Core taxonomy
4. Print out the terms in a custom block using snippets available in the snippets section.
Very possible, just will require dedication and persistence.
If it were easy ... everyone would do it.
