For performance reason I disabled the search module? Will this module still work?

Can it be configured to search for taxonomy terms?

The search404 by itself does not do searching, it internally invokes the search module to do search and it displays the result.

So by disabling the search module search404 will not work since it is explicitly dependent on Search to do the searching.

Once again search module has to be configured to use taxonomy terms and not search404.
