As i read this module is just an example, but it could be very useful if there was voting api or views integration or something like this to select "best" nodes.

Looks like there will be a Voting API integration.

I can only do paid work for a while (at least this month).

I have submitted a quote, so I will see how it goes. If someone has a bounty to chip in too, please raise your hand and help. :-)
