I activated the module and got this error message immediately. It appears on all admin pages, regardless of whether I'm trying to configure Admin Role or not. It was present whether I had set which role was to be admin or not, and went away as soon as I deactivated the module.

yikes - this'd be great to fix - (better yet, it would be great to have this feature in core!)
for now (D6) I look forward to using this module... after this issue is resolved...
