I needed to list out buddygroups in the contacts tab so here's my code - it just does what it needs to do and so may need some extra stuff to fit into coding standards etc. but thought it might be of use to someone as couldn't find a solution for it myself.
The result is something like this:
* Group
* Group1Name (Group1Member1name, Group1Member2name)
* Group2Name (This group has no members!)
* Group3Name (Group3Member1name)
* Contact
{continues as per current contact tab}
So one selects buddylist groups just as one would contacts, and it inserts the names as if you were to select multiple single names.

Anonymous (not verified) commentedCorrection - here's one with correct filename at top in order to run patch in the privatemsg module directory...

berdirI'm closing old issues since Privatemsg for Drupal 5 is not maintained anymore. I suggest you switch to Drupal 6 if possible, many of the reported issues are probably already resolved there and if not, you're welcome to open a new issue.
