I understand there are more important things to be done, but I thought I should through this out there because this module is so important to me.

I noticed that the user's icon usually makes the whole row in "message list" 2 - 3 lines. This means that most cells are way too big. So, I thought it would be nice if some extra information could be thrown in there. The subject cell is always the biggest.

Maybe a message preview with the message contents should be shown right underneath the subject.

The subject column would have to be renamed to "message" or something more generic. The subject could be a bold link. The message contents could be a gray.

This would require the "HTML-to-text" module in 5.x, but not 6.x (it's core). "Subscriptions" users may already have it installed.

This sounds pretty straight forward. I haven't done much programming, but I think I might be able to do it and submit a patch.

I'm closing old issues since Privatemsg for Drupal 5 is not maintained anymore. I suggest you switch to Drupal 6 if possible, many of the reported issues are probably already resolved there and if not, you're welcome to open a new issue.
