Description

Is there a way to get the event syntax for timelines to work?
Every time I try to use an XML source in this syntax the exhibit page loads for eternity but nothing happens. I have only been successful with JSON files until now.

Alternatively, I could change the appearance of the timeline pop-up bubbles to look like the result with the event XML.
Is this possible with the module?

Any help is appreciated - I am a noob with this stuff, so please don't be offended if the questions are stupid :)
Thank you!

Regards,
kalesco

Sorry, but I'm only familiar with using the JSON data formats in Exhibit and Timeline. Have you checked out the Simile website (http://simile.mit.edu/) or the new Google Group (http://groups.google.com/group/simile-widgets)?

Hi, sorry for the late response.

No, I tried everything. The Event Syntax is what the client wants. I resolved my problem with this by not using the Exhibit module and using iframes with the generated full HTML sites instead.
Works well, but definitely not a solution to the overall issue.
Any one with more than four timelines will find that this is too hard to manage if ever there are changes...

Your best bet would probably be to either extend the Exhibit View contrib module or create your own custom contrib module to output the feed in the desired format.

The first place I would start is looking at the Exhibit Views style and row plugins. Although these leverage some of the built in Exhibit JSON formatters, this will give you a good place to start when creating a new one if you decide to go the Views route. This might make a great contribution back to the project if you're able to tackle it.
