So the current admin/uts has a lot of text on it that tries to explain the concept of UTS, which well is really hard. After looking at people using the UTS they ran into a lot of issues, of grasping the concept of the UTS and understanding the text on admin/uts.

So a solution to this is a welcome page for people who install UTS. This is a page that will be displayed before a user has done anything with the UTS and will disappear from admin/uts once a study has been created. Though it won't completely disappear it should be placed somewhere in the UI so a user can go back to the screen.

Keep in mind, that after the welcome screen on admin/uts there will be a dashboard with information such as the study(ies) running, and information about progress and links to related tasks.

On Drupalcamp Colorado I did a talk on the usability of modules and suggested for the blank state(nothing in the module - first installed) to have a welcome screen:

Why?

• Introduce the concept
• Good first impression
• Avoid beginners questions

What (Best practices)?

• Quick introduction
• Give a sample screenshot or screencast to see how the page would look it it has data.
• Explain how to get started
• Refer to extra documentation if its available

So with that in mind I created a mockup for the welcome screen. With a big call-to-action to create a study, which should lead to a series of forms that helps the UTE create a study.

What should be in the movie? Well a quick introduction to the UTS and how to setup a study and then show off what data you get in the analyse UI. And we can show related movies, if for example we have several types of studies or we want to go more in-depth on some important functionality.

We'd have to coordinate how we would setup the basic movies and the UTS UI's should be finalized, but I hope you can grasp the concept - and work a bit on the video UI.
