Permission changes do not save via the "save category permissions" button.

I'm having to change permissions, manually, in PHPMyAdmin, then rebuild node access permissions before it does its job.

I'm unable to reproduce this behavior. What happens when you click the "save category permissions" button? Any error messages? A blank screen?

I have the same problem.
Whenever I want to add a new permission for any of the existing roles, the page is reloaded but no changes are made, no matter which roles, categories or permissions I assign. Every time the page is reloaded it's like the default one. If I want to change any default permissions this is also ignored.

I have a suspicion that this is a "gotcha" in the UI--Are you clicking the "Add" button before clicking "Save"?

Also, try the 2.x branch, and reopen if it is still an issue.
