I would think that you can use Drupal for managing the content of the site; but for the transactions/user login I would imagine that you will need to use APIs to link that up with the backend banking system which is typically powered by Java and Oracle.

Drupal does have strong support for web services such as rest and SOAP.

What kind of apps. are you trying to build? A complete E-banking site?

Hello,
as well as me, i would like to ask you guys if sameone can help and tell me if it's possible to use drupal for an internet banking application. The application can just show the status of the account of the client. Thank you

Drupal is NOT suitable for banking applications. If you do, don't be amazed when you are sued for gross negligence.

That you even ask this question here, makes it clear that you are not up to the task.

According to this post in Dries personal blog, now ING Direct is using Drupal in several sites for customers operations.

You know when a piece of software is mature when it starts being adopted by financial services organizations. ING Financial Services recently moved a number of sites from Oracle Stellent to Drupal. Among these sites are http://ing.us, the main portal for their US market. The driver behind this migration was to move to a platform that was more dynamic and provided faster time to market.

It's funny to see how things and software evolve.

it's true ing.us is using drupal but if you examine the site well you will notice that transactions are made in another subdomain which is developed with JSP
