My guess is that most often, we would access the latest diff.
In these cases, it would save time and a page load if there was a "view latest diff" or "latest diff" tab beside the "revisions" tab.

Ah, and ideally it should be optional to show it ("enable" that tab or not).
Could be that some sites need the people to visit/view the revisions page for some reason, for example if other modules (later) may place relevant information on the revisions page, which would be overlooked if not going there.
Could also be that one wants some control on how many tabs show up on nodes.
