Instant Messenger - please let this be ported to Drupal 5x

6.x development snapshot is now available for download. Functionality and UI more closely resembles standard IM.

IM plays an important part in social network sites. Drupal 6x is still not suitable for such sites.
A backport of IM to 5x is requested.

Thank you Minesota - I agree there should be 5.x version. It shouldn't be too hard to do - but may be best to get 6.x somewhat stable first. I've just gotten maintainership of this module and there are a number known issues I've got to add to the queue. Since there's a fair amount of known work to do just to get this releasable, I'd like to avoid making redundant patches to both 5.x and 6.x

I just put this thing up yesterday and I'd at least like to get some feedback (bugs, feature requests - and patches!) before I jump on maintaining 2 branches.

Any thoughts and efforts would be very very welcome. ;-)
