What's the difference between this module and creating a Views 2 compatible version of the views carousel or node carousel projects?

Both the views carousel (seems to be abandoned) and node carousel use the jcarousel jQuery plugin. The Views Rotator uses something more like the Innerfade plugin. I say it's like the Innerfade plugin because it's not that plugin and this modules has a slightly different feature set.
