I was wondering how to do a front page, that would group the promoted content by content type or certain group.
I mean a bit like this:

NEWS
5 latest nodes of the content type "news"

FROM THE WISE
5 latest nodes posted in a certain group

STORIES
5 latest blog posts and stories created by users

Can this be done with views? To me it looked like views can't make this kind of "groups" with headers before each one

What would be the best way to do this?

Why won't we use the views for your application?Once again check the views module,It supports your requirement.
