Give me new faith in drupal

I recently moved from a moveable typle blog. After much frustration I finaly got it working smoothly. Now, all of a sudden I get the error message bellow at the top of my blog @ http://www.whatwoulddumbledoredo.com

Go to

and fix the setting for "Temporary directory".

I have e.g. it set to "files/tmp", you may need to create the tmp directory manually.

If this problem just appeared it can be because you web hotel turned on PHP safe mode or something like that.

Followed these directions. Now its worse. it lessened the amount of error messages but now says "You are not authorized to access this page." when i go to the home page.

I went to the user access in admin and checked all the stuff i wanted but every time i submit it just recets itself to bk\lank again!

This was running so smoothly for monthes! Why now!

I did a google search for you and came up with this...

It looks to be a MySQL issue rtather than a Drupal issue.

u think cpanel did an update that is not compatable with drupal or something?

had that problem once with MT?

if so, why isnt it happening to anyone else

as i said, this site was running fine for monthes, why is it like this all of a sudden.

I am suggesting that you do not have a Drupal error, you have a MySQL error. I found the a link on the MySQL site earlier that looked dead on to your issue, unfortunatly I copied the wrong link over.

I will try and look again, but you may want to do some google searches too

These tend to lead me to the conclusion that you are looking for a MySQL error. I suggest you contact your hosting provider. Perhaps they ran an update or something.

Same prob here. It worked but today I get:

I've changed nothing between yesterday (when it was working fust fine) and today (when error messages popped up).

Do you have your own server or are you with a hosting company. If the latter, ask them to fix permissions on /tmp/

Can you execute perror 13 (in mysql/bin) ? On some systems this errorcode signifies the OS error 'permission denied', perhaps it's different on yours.

What permission has /tmp now?

Posting all those error message that pretty much say the same thing really drives the point home as to how serious your problem is.

did you try running the sql in phpmyadmin? that would be what I would try first, just to rule out whether it's mysql or drupal.

Reinstalled - now it's worse

Hey all. First, thanks for the help. I like this community already!

I deleted the db and files so I can start from scratch again.

Now, when I upload the database.mysql via phpMyAdmin, it says something like "no tables in SQL." This weirdness didn't happen with my first install.

So I copy-and-pasted the contents into the "Run SQL query/queries on database" textarea. It was successful. 55 tables.

But the errors (errcode 13) are still there. I will contact the hosting company and see what's up.

I'll update here what happens.

The error:

Indicates MySQL writing to the tmp directory in the root and failing because of insufficient rights. I can't believe you have the sufficient privileges to change permissions on /tmp (or do you have a root server?). Perhaps you chmodded another tmp directory eg /home/philphot/tmp ? If that's the case you only need to point MySQL to the right temporary directory.

It's a MySQL config error

The error is because MySQL doesn't have permission to write to its default tmp file. The solution is to edit the MySQL config file "my.cnf" and set "tmp_dir =/tmp"
