Hi all,
Just wondering. Drupal.org is not exactly a site working at the speed of light. With so many users and so many nodes, that's not hard to understand. But I keep asking myself why such a site, with such an amount of traffic, is actually burdening itself (and all of us users) with a link to something like http://ehg-adamson.hitbox.com ? I suppose it's a hit tracker, but doesn't Drupal itself have sufficient tools in that respect? Call me silly: I don't mind waiting a couple of seconds while Drupal searches its database, but when that same thing happens because this ehg-adamson thing is slow (which happens quite regularly), it is really annoying me. Am I being oversensitive, or what? Anyway, is that tracker really the only and the best option??

Not much clarification on
Not much clarification on this ehg-adamson thingy, but it keeps on sucking as it did when I posted my original message. It takes ages to load, and for no discernible user benefit at all. Come on people, there must be better trackers available - if you want something like a tracker in the first place. These "connected" sites, such as Adamson here, or (*horror and shiver*) Tribalfusion, Doubleclick and other absolutely unwanted junk sites are gobbling up more and more bandwidth. And for what purpose? Get rid of them, that's all. Just say No. Whenever I see my browser showing signs of attempting to connect to one of these junk sites, the site I was originally interested in, is immediately cast aside. Sorry. When I want to visit a site, I want my browser to invest time in that site alone, nothing else. It's like trying to listen to a concert with a plane hovering over your head: unwanted.
[Edit: upon saving this message, I just spent 20 seconds staring at "Connecting to ehg-adamson"... ]
not that it's a proper
not that it's a proper answer-- but use firefox with the noscript extension. You'll be amazed at how much faster your browsing experience will be-- and not just on drupal.org (and you can selectively enable/disable scripts based on domain).

Just tried to upload a patch in the issue queue and the upload dialog just hung on requests being made to 'ehg-adamson.hitbox.com'. Is this not something that can be hosted on d.org?

Thanks for your efforts to get this in the issue queue, Dave. We'll just have to wait and see now.
