5.x Support

Well its certainly not beyond the realms of possibility, generally its better to move forward and not look back so much. The big issue with a 5 version is not so much the initial effort, but rather the long term support, being difficult to find the time to support multiple versions.

Long story short, I'll need to think about it before committing to a 5 version, frankly I was thinking about a D7 version rather than a D5;)

BTW, what modules do you need updated?

I would also like to see a 5.x version of this theme. You can always make a note saying "I will only support 6.x". Many module / theme makers do this during a version transition period.

Views, CCK, Panels, and several other crucial modules are either bug ridden or have not even been ported yet. I had the same problem back during the 4/5 transition. Drupal core tends to move ahead much faster than its surrounding modules.

I have decided to abandon a backport as time is against me. All future effort should go into a Drupal 6 stable release and dev for D7.

The horror!
