What's the best way to make a small change to the 'submitted by' line?

I just want to replace the '—' with 'by'.

probably in the node.tpl.php file for your theme.

Have you tried the string_overrides module?

Its a short and sweet version of locale.

(But the submitted tag must include a t() field.)

Thanks. Less than day into this, I hadn't heard of the string_overrides module. I shall go-see.

Meantime, I seem to have gotten the local e module to do it.

What I really need is a 'for stupid users' module - in which I just think what I want and it happens.
